Director Shahi Kabir is also a noted script-writer who has penned popular Malayalam movies such as Joseph, Nayattu and Officer on Duty. Ronth is also yet another cop story from Shahi Kabir as the film follows rookie cop Dinnath (played by Roshan Mathew) who joins the senior officer Yohannan (Dileesh Pothan) on a patrolling duty. From the cops who spar initially to the situations they deal with, the film has authentic characters and plot points that make for an engaging watch. The film won positive reviews upon its theatrical release, but some netizens took objection to certain problematic portrayals in Ronth after its OTT release.
