For fans complaining about the lack of "scares" in the zombie horror genre, Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City is here to prove you wrong. The upcoming reboot of the Resident Evil film franchise has recently dropped its latest trailer, which is bound to unnerve even the most seasoned horror fans.

The trailer, dubbed "nightmare", starts with a scene at Raccoon City where a girl comes face-to-face with a gruesome-looking zombie, a victim of the evil experiments run by the main villain in the franchise, the Umbrella Corporation. The rest of the trailer gives a deeper look into the ramifications of the experiments, which turn the victims into predatory creatures which hunt down human beings. Viewers also get to see the efforts of an unlikely group of heroes who try to put an end to the corporations' doings.

The upcoming film will trace the origin story of the zombie apocalypse that ravaged humanity in the Resident Evil universe, which began when pharmaceutical giant Umbrella started experiments in the titular Raccoon City.

The latest adaptation of the popular Resident Evil video games will be much more faithful to the games than the previous films, a fact confirmed by director Johannes Roberts. Roberts had revealed that not only did he want to do justice to the games’ gripping story and narrative, but he also wanted to capture its unsettling atmosphere.

Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City will be released in US theatres on November 24, 2021. The film will be released in India by Sony Pictures Entertainment on November 26.
