Njiam with Smita is a first-of-a-kind attempt from Sony LIV to foray into the talk show in Telugu. While the likes of Lakshmi Manchu, Samantha, Rana Daggubati and Nandamuri Balakrishna have proved their worth as hosts in the OTT space, musician Smita decided to give her own spin to the talk show format by inviting guests from various walks of life for episodes with specific themes.

Smita made a fine start to her new innings as a host on SonyLIV with the first episode, Upward Mobility, in which Chiranjeevi spoke of how he went past humiliation, struggles to make it big in the film industry, while also sharing candid details about his personal life and family. In the second episode, based on ‘populism vs development’, politician and former AP CM Chandrababu Naidu was the guest.

Opening up on many facets of his life, Chandrababu Naidu kept audiences invested in the episode with his insights on politics, early struggles and beyond. Talking of how he went onto be the son-in-law of Telugu star NTR by marrying the latter’s daughter Bhuvaneswari, he recollected, “I was a cinematography minister and used to regularly interact with NTR’s son Jaya Krishna for work. Being an NTR fan myself, I expressed my interest to meet him.”

“Jaya Krishna facilitated the meeting and I met NTR on the sets of Anuraga Devatha in Hyderabad. We interacted briefly. The proposal to get me married Bhuvaneswari came from NTR and when I gave my nod to it, my parents met them and the alliance was finalised,” Chandrababu said. The politician had only one condition for marriage - a grand event had to be organised in Chennai. Every household in his hometown Naravaripalle received an invitation for the marriage.

Chandrababu Naidu and Bhuvaneswari tied the knot in 1981 and are parents to a son, Nara Lokesh, also a politician.
