Nimma Vasthugalige Neeve Javaabdaararu OTT release date: Director Keshav Moorthy’s film has finally cracked a digital streaming deal, five months after its theatrical outing

Nimma Vasthugalige Neeve Javaabdaararu, which released in theatres on January 10, 2025, along with Choo Mantar, received positive word-of-mouth, but struggled with footfalls and theatre retention. The Keshav Moorthy directorial, a crime drama anthology comprising three different stories dealing with different kinds of theft, starring Prasanna Shetty, Apoorva Bharadwaj, Govind Madhusudan, Dileep Raj and Shilpa Manjunath, among others, had not got an OTT deal immediately thereafter, despite the good reviews.

But that’s changed now. According to the latest news, Nimma Vasthugalige Neeve Javaabdaararu has a streaming partner on board. The film has been picked up by Sun Network and will begin streaming on Sun NXT from June 26, 2025. It will be available on OTTplay Premium too. Nimma Vasthugalige Neeve Javaabdaararu is only the fourth film of 2025 that’s landed on the platform, after Gana, Rakshasa and Vidyapati, which, like Laughing Buddha, went to Prime Video first and then dropped on Sun NXT.

The film has three unconnected stories, that starts with a socially-awkward salesman Inayat (Prasanna), who steals bikes to supplement his income, but only a certain brand, owing to his OCD. His modus operandi is the highlight of this segment. The next on follows two young kleptomaniacs, who steal for fun. This story features Apoorva and Govind and is the lightweight of the three.

The third and more complex story has Dileep Raj in the lead and is about the honeytrap operation he runs. This story gets the entire second half of the film, with Dileep’s character targeting morally corrupt people, who he believes deserve what’s coming for them. What stands out about all three stories is that there’s not even the slightest hint of judgement in the narrative.

With a little over 100 films released in the first 6 months of the year, not even a fifth have made it to OTT platforms yet. Sun and Prime Video have been the only takers so far. The last Kannada film to drop on Zee5 was Max.
