Nitham Oru Vaanam director Ra Karthik said his movie, which stars Ashok Selvan in the lead role, will be a feel-good film, with a theme that goes beyond the idea of love.

“Many people had the impression that the movie will be a love drama because it stars Ritu Varma, Aparna Balamurali, and Shivathmika Rajashekar as the three heroines, but it has a premise beyond this element, which is about celebrating life,” added Karthik.

According to him, travel-based movies are uncommon in Tamil cinema. The three distinct periods and settings that comprise Nitham Oru Vaanam were filmed in the gorgeous sites of Chennai, Chandigarh, Manali, Gobichettipalayam, and Kolkata.

Optimism is the main theme in Nitham Oru Vaanam. “We develop a desire to travel whenever we're down, which will keep our spirits up. We as a crew intended to create a film that will renew and replenish viewers with smiles and feel-goodness as they leave the theatres because they have been cooped up within homes and walls for the past few years owing to the pandemic,” Karthik said.

The filmmaker was all praise for his actors. “Ashok Selvan is an outstanding performer. He was quite impressed when I narrated the script to him and told me this project was close to his heart. All the three leading ladies are equally talented.”

Nitham Oru Vaanam was initially titled Vaan and had Dulquer Salmaan in the lead.

“Vaan refers to both mazhai (rain) and vaanam (sky). It represents the panchabootha (the five elements: fire, air, water, and land). The main character will be distinctive and have a variety of shades, just as each of these elements is special and has its traits.”

Abhirami (of Virumandi-fame) and Kaali Venkat (of Gargi-fame) play crucial roles in Nitham Oru Vaanam. The movie was shot by Vidhu Ayyanna, edited by Anthony, and has a music score by Gopi Sunder. Viacom 18 Studios and Rise East Entertainment co-produced it.
