Niveditha Shivarajkumar: If I were to work with someone from the family, it would be…
NIveditha Shivarajkumar would want to produce a film with a member of the family, but who?

When Niveditha Shivarajkumar took the plunge into film production and decided to back a rank newbie – Vamshi – her decision was questioned by many well-meaning people, who urged her to instead work with her father, Century Star Shivarajkumar or any other big star. It was an option that she could have gone ahead with, without much trouble, but she decided to stick to the objective of the banner – to work with new talent.

“Also, working with my dad or a big star would have been the most cliched thing to do. Honestly, the fact that I took up film production as my career is cliched as well. It’s not a shocker that this is what I have chosen to do, so, I feel that I need to prove a point. I know a lot of people who can do good stuff and I want to be a path for them somehow. There are also amazing actors out there who are not used properly in our industry. I want to change that,” she says.

The newbie producer has often been asked about who from the family she’d like to collaborate with and the name that always comes up is that of Vinay Rajkumar, the elder son of Raghavendra Rajkumar. “In fact, I was recently asked if I would like to work with Yuva (Rajkumar) and honestly, I don’t want to. My vision of cinema aligns more with that of Vinay. My taste in films is very different and much as I like commercial movies, I would not do, say, an Ekka. Vinay, in that sense, is only interested in doing his work and experimenting with it,” she says.

Having said that, Niveditha adds that she is not averse to working with her father, but if and when she does it, she says that it will be with a simple family drama, without the elevations and embellishments of typical commercial cinema.
