Mollywood star Nivin Pauly might have an OTT release coming up with Kanakam Kaamini Kalaham later this year, but that actor is definitely not going all-out to streaming space as per the latest poster of Padavettu.

The actor unveiled a new poster of the Liju Krishna directorial, that has him in a gritty avatar with long-grown hair splashed in dirt and grime. “Story of conflict… struggle… survival. As long as there are humans, the fight will continue,” wrote the actor, revealing that the movie will hit theatres in 2022.

As per sources close to the team, the makers are looking for a March 2022 release date for the political drama, which has Aditi Balan as the female protagonist. Manju Warrier, Shine Tom Chacko and Shammi Thilakan are also part of the cast of the film, which has music composed by Govind Vasantha.

In a statement issued by the team, Director Liju Krishna said, “Padavettu endeavours to portray the relentless pursuit of the layman, the oppressed section of society who is in a constant struggle and fight to reclaim their rightful place in a world meant for all."

The film, which was initially produced by actor Sunny Wayne, has also got Yoodlee Films backing it right now. Nivin had put on weight to shoot for the movie, which had begun production in 2019. However, with the pandemic bringing the production to a halt last year, the actor had been waiting to finish his portions for the movie. "It’s a story of second chances and finding the inner mettle to stand up against the wrong," said Nivin, in the statement.

Nivin, whose Kanakam Kaamini Kalaham will be the first Malayalam movie to release directly on Disney+ Hotstar, is also part of Ram’s Tamil movie. Right after completing the shoot of Padavettu, the actor is expected to start work on Ishq director Anuraj Manohar’s upcoming movie.

The Premam actor also has Rajeev Ravi’s Thuramukham, in which he plays a labourer named Moidu. The movie was initially slated for a May 2021 release but after being pushed due to the second wave of COVID-19 cases in Kerala, the makers are yet to announce a new release date.
