What's the plot of O'Romeo?

O' Romeo (2026) is an Indian Hindi-language action-thriller directed by Vishal Bhardwaj and starring Shahid Kapoor and Triptii Dimri. Based on the book Mafia Queens of Mumbai by Hussain Zaidi. The film is a gritty revenge drama described as a tragic love story layered with revenge, romance, and intense action. It follows a stone-hearted gangster (Kapoor) whose world is upended when he falls in love with a woman (Dimri).

The narrative is said to draw inspiration from the real-life story of Hussain Ustara, a gangster who dared to challenge Dawood Ibrahim, and Sapna Didi, who plotted to kill Dawood after her husband’s murder.

Set in the underworld of post-independence Mumbai, the film begins with the story of a damsel in distress, then develops into a dark, emotionally charged, high-stakes romantic conflict.

During a new interview with New Indian Express, Shahid Kapoor was asked about the creative synergy between him and director Vishal Bhardwaj. Reacting to this, Shahid said, "There is some X factor that we share. Whenever we come together, I feel we bring out the best in each other, and that he’s fundamental in my career graph, bringing out certain aspects of me which I wasn’t aware existed."
