James Earl Jones reprises his role as Darth Vader in Disney+'s Obi-Wan Kenobi. In the third episode, which was released today, his voice may be heard.

According to Deadline, Darth Vader is in one of his meditation rooms when he receives word that Obi-Wan is on a mining planet in this episode. Obi-Wan is attempting to return young Leia to her parents by transporting her to a port. To find Obi-Wan, Vader and the Inquisitors proceeded to the mining world. Obi-Wan is tracked down by Vader, who confronts him in a fight. Vader defeats Obi-Wan Kenobi. The Inquisitors are about to kidnap Leia later.

Jones originally appeared as Luke Skywalker in Star Wars: Episode IV: A New Hope then reprised the role in The Empire Strikes Back, Return of the Jedi, and Episode IX: The Rise of Skywalker. He can also be heard as Darth Vader in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story and in the animated series Rebels.

Jones' participation in the series had previously gone unnoticed. Another well-known voice can be heard in the episode: Zach Braff. In the latest episode, Braff plays Freck, an Empire aficionado and transport driver. He seeks to reveal Leia and Obi-Wan as Jedi supporters to a group of stormtroopers he's transporting.

Ewan McGregor reprises his role as the younger Obi-Wan. According to Deadline, the cast includes Moses Ingram, Joel Edgerton, Bonnie Piesse, Kumail Nanjiani, Indira Varma, Rupert Friend, O'Shea Jackson Jr. Sung Kang, Simone Kessell, and Benny Safdie.

The story begins ten years after the events of Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith in which McGregor's character, Obi-Wan Kenobi, experienced his greatest defeat, the breakdown and corruption of his best friend and Jedi pupil, Anakin Skywalker, who went on to become the evil Sith Lord Darth Vader.

Obi-Wan Kenobi is directed by Deborah Chow, who helmed two episodes of Season 1 of The Mandalorian.

The show's executive producers are Kathleen Kennedy, Michelle Rejwan, Deborah Chow, McGregor, and Joby Harold.
