Kunchacko Boban’s latest cop thriller, Officer On Duty, is on track to being the biggest Malayalam hit of February 2025, with the movie already showing an increase in its earnings on its Day 2 at the box office.

According to early estimates from industry tracking site Sacnilk, the Jithu Ashraf directorial raked in Rs 1.75 Cr from domestic gross, surpassing its opening day collection of Rs 1.29 Cr. The worlwide collection of the film, which had over 100+ extra shows added since its release on February 10, has already crossed Rs 5Cr, and with the weekend, the film is expected to rake in even more numbers as its only competitor Get-Set Baby opened to mixed reviews.

Officer On Duty beats Marco star’s Get-Set Baby at the box office

With Officer On Duty being an intense action-thriller that opened to positive reviews, the only competition it had was Marco star Unni’s Get-Set Baby, which is a feel-good family drama. However, with the responses to the latter being mixed and it releasing in limited centres due to an already packed Valentine’s Day releases last week, it could only rake in Rs 0.29 Cr, according to Sacnilk.

The Kunchacko-starrer, which is scripted by Nayattu and Joseph writer Shahi Kabir , revolves around a demoted cop, who is battling his own trauma and has to take up an investigation case that begins with fake gold chain and leads to a gang of drug peddlers who have been targetting teenage girls for revenge.

Officer On Duty’s OTT partner

The movie is also one of the few Malayalam films to sell its OTT rights ahead of the release. Officer On Duty’s streaming rights were bagged by Netflix, which is expected to premiere it next month.

The film is also on track to become the second superhit for the industry, which had Asif Ali’s Rekhachithram raking in profitable figures for its producers earlier this year.
