OFFICIAL: After a terrific theatrical run, here's when you can watch Nikhil Siddhartha's Karthikeya 2 on OTT

Karthikeya 2 has truly been the surprise success story of the year. While films like Pushpa, RRR, KGF2 came with rich star presence and franchise value, not many placed their bet on the Nikhil Siddhartha, Anupama Parameswaran starrer to deliver the goods. The film released on August 13, for the Independence Day weekend, amidst huge competition from multiple markets - it had to counter the effect of films like Macherla Niyojakavargam, Laal Singh Chaddha, Rakshabandhan and it did the unthinkable.

The mystical thriller, directed by Chandoo Mondeti, began performing well in its original - Telugu - version from the very first show and gained steam gradually in other markets. Minus any star power and with little promotion, Karthikeya 2 performed very in its Hindi version too and released to positive responses in the Malayalam version the previous weekend. After a glorious theatrical run, the film will start streaming in Telugu, Hindi and Tamil on ZEE5 from October 5, commemorating Dasara.

Karthikeya, played by Nikhil, is a medico cum history buff who doesn’t believe in anything by its face value alone. After a few unfortunate events in his life, the youngster and his mother head to Dwaraka. His life takes a drastic turn after a brief interaction with a historian named Rao. While Rao dies soon, Karthikeya's mother is nowhere to be found the next day. Things escalate quickly and he’s suddenly summoned to a police station. Who'll come to his rescue?

Tulasi, Srinivas Reddy, Viva Harsha, Adithya Menon and others play important roles in the film. Anupam Kher also makes a cameo appearance that drew praise from several corners. Karthik Gattamneni has cranked the camera and also edited the film which has music by Kaala Bhairava. Karthikeya 2 is jointly produced by TG Vishwa Prasad and Abhishek Agarwal under People Media Factory and Abhishek Agarwal Arts.
