Angamaly Diaries and Ajagajantharam fame Antony Varghese’s first romcom Oh Meri Laila is gearing up for its OTT release. The feel-good entertainer, which is helmed by Abhishek KS, had hit theatres as a Christmas release and is now set to drop on a regional OTT platform, almost three months later.

The film has Antony essaying the role of a college student named Lailasuran, who has perennially been unlucky in love. After the girl he falls in love with at his college dumps him, he gets entangled in a series of events that somehow end projecting him as an unlikely hero. His newfound fame also wins the attention of another girl.

But every time Lailasuran tries to talk to her, he can’t make sense of her erratic behaviour. Who is the girl and what her intentions are from the plot of the movie, which also has Senthil Krishna, Nandana Rajan, Balachandran Chullikad and Sivakami. Sona Olickal, who had previously starred in Shane Nigam’s Veyil, plays the female lead in the movie.

On playing a double role in the romcom, Sona, in an earlier interview with OTTplay said, “During pre-production, we thought Clara would be the easier role because Mary is a bubbly personality and you have to find a perfect balance with her. But when I was playing those characters, it was easier for me to play Mary than Clara.”

The film was shot in Maharajas College, Ernakulam, which is also the alma mater of Antony as well as the film’s director Abhishek KS. Antony had, in fact, faced the camera for the first time in Abhishek’s short film during their campus days.

Oh Meri Laila is set to begin streaming on Saina Play on March 23. The platform had earlier this month also dropped Roshan Mathew, Alencier Ley Lopez and Swasika Vijay’s Chathuram, which was directed by Sidharth Bharathan.
