It was in September 2024 that the hit comedy show Only Murders In the Building, starring Steve Martin, Selena Gomez and Martin Short in the lead, was renewed for a fifth season and only a month ago that the cast wrapped up shooting it. And now, there’s already a release date in place for the show.

Late last night it was announced that the Hulu original Only Murders In the Building Season 5 returns on September 9, 2025, with a three-episode premiere, followed by weekly episode drops. Fans in India can catch the episodes on JioHotstar (via OTTplay Premium too). The season, as always, will have 10 episodes and will end on October 28.

What to expect in Season 5 of Only Murders in the Building

After the events of Season 4, which saw the true-crime podcast trio of Charles Hayden Savage, Mabel Mora and Oliver Putnam figured out who killed the former’s friend and stunt double Sazz, and threw her down the trash chute into the incinerator, they are now faced with the loss of yet another member of the Arconia, everyone’s favourite doorman Lester (Teddy Coluca).

He’s found dead in the fountain and his demise may or may not have a connection to the disappearance of a man that Charles, Mabel and Oliver had been asked to investigate, but turned down, since he doesn’t live at the Arconia. Will Charles, Mabel and Oliver take up the case after all to find out what happened to Lester?

The official synopsis hints that the investigation plunges them into the shadowy corners of New York and beyond — where they uncover a dangerous web of secrets connecting powerful billionaires, old-school mobsters, and the mysterious residents of the Arconia.

Only Murders in the Building will have Renee Zellwegger, Christoph Waltz, Logan Lerman, Jermaine Fowler, Bobby Canavale, Tea Leoni and Diane West joining Meryl Streep, Nathan Lane, Michael Cyril Creighton, Jackie Hoffman and Da’Vine Joy Randolph, among others, who’ve been on and off the show in the last four seasons.
