O’ Romeo (2026) is a Hindi-language action-thriller directed by Vishal Bhardwaj, starring Shahid Kapoor and Triptii Dimri. It is inspired by Mafia Queens of Mumbai by Hussain Zaidi and unfolds in the shadowy underbelly of post-independence Mumbai.
A mix of love and brutal violence, this story follows a tough gangster whose carefully controlled world begins to crumble when he falls deeply in love. What begins as a story of redemption soon becomes a poignant tale of betrayal, revenge, and cursed passion. Inspired by the real-life legends of Hussain Ustara and Swapna Didi, this film highlights how love can bring both liberation and destruction.
At the heart of the film is the dangerous attraction between a hired killer and his 'client', which highlights a love that teeters on the brink of madness. Afsha’s relentless pursuit of the men responsible for her husband’s death drives the narrative. Set in the criminal underworld of 1990s Mumbai, the story highlights the brutal nature of contract killings and the loss of innocence.
In O'Romeo, Shahid Kapoor plays Ustara, a volatile hitman and barber who wields a razor with deadly precision, while Triptii Dimri appears as Afsha, a grieving wife who transforms into a femme fatale driven by vengeance.
Nana Patekar takes on the role of Ismail Khan, a ruthless intelligence officer and Ustara’s handler, alongside Avinash Tiwary as Jalal, a dangerous Spain-based gangster, Vikrant Massey as Mehboob, Afsha’s deceased husband, and Farida Jalal as Dadi, Ustara’s grandmother.
