After the much-loved Nna Thaan Case Kodu, Kunchacko Boban has once again joined hands with Ratheesh Balakrishnan Poduval for Oru Durooha Saahacharyathil. The first-look poster of the upcoming film, which also features actor Sajin Gopu, actor-filmmaker Dileesh Pothan and director Chidambaram, was unveiled recently, sparking much excitement among the cinephiles. But a section of fans also brought up the previous movie of the director, Sureshanteyum Sumalathayudeyum Hrudayahariyaya Pranayakadha, which was a flop!

Kunchacko Boban's Oru Durooha Saahacharyathil

Director Ratheesh Balakrishnan Poduval’s next Malayalam film is Oru Durooha Saahacharyathil, which stars actor Kunchacko Boban, Aavesham actor Sajin Gopu, and two noted directors Chidambaram and Dileesh Pothan. As it brings back the actor-director combo of the hit 2022 film Nna Thaan Case Kodu, fans are excited to see the first-look poster, which was released on July 26, 2025.

Fans on Twitter exuded hope that it would be the next hit from Kunchacko Boban, whose previous film of the year Officer on Duty, was also a winner at the box office. Others are eager to see Chidambaram, the director of the blockbuster film Manjummel Boys, as an actor. That the cast includes Sajin Gopu, who shot to fame with Fahadh Faasil-starrer Aavesham, and Dileesh Pothan, who won praise for the recently released Ronth, has also added to the excitement. The comments read, “The poster looks very interesting and the casting looks very promising” and “The hit duo KunchackoBoban & Ratheesh Balakrishnan Poduval reunite after the blockbuster #NTCK!”

Fans are also happy to see Ratheesh Balakrishnan Poduval, who has helmed popular films such as Android Kunjappan Ver 5.25 and Nna Thaan Case Kodu.

What about Sumalathayudeyum Hrudayahariyaya Pranayakadha?

But Reddit users haven’t forgotten Ratheesh Balakrishnan Poduval’s previous directorial Sumalathayudeyum Hrudayahariyaya Pranayakadha, which ended as a disaster. The film was also in the news after it was alleged that it caused huge losses to the producer. One comment of a Reddit sub read “RBP the man who lit up all the producers money (18 crores) for 'സുരേഷന്റെയും സുമലതയുടെയും ഹൃദയഹാരിയായ പ്രണയകഥ' and it turned out to be the most disastrous box office flops of all time.” Other comments read “Another flop loading” and “His last film was one of Malayalam's biggest and most notorious flops”

But on Twitter, netizens seem more positive with one fans saying, “Seems like Ratheesh Balakrishnan Poduval gonna make a grand comeback.”

It remains to be seen how the new film will unfold and the reception it will receive.
