In the wake of winning an Oscar at the 95th Academy Awards in Los Angeles, producer Guneet Monga has returned to India. Guneet's friends and supporters gave her a warm welcome at the Mumbai airport early on Friday. She also chatted with journalists who were positioned outside the airport.

Guneet, who was thrilled at the historic victory, told ANI that they had stiff competition. Another movie in their genre was backed by Nobel laureate Malala Yousafzai. The type of love they are receiving from all across the world proves that their film was successful beyond generations and geographic boundaries.

The social media pages of Sikhya Entertainment shared a video of Guneet receiving a warm welcome at the airport. The video is captioned, "The Oscar is home! @guneetmonga, @kartikigonsalves, #theelephantwhisperers #oscars #oscars95 #theacademy."

At the 2023 Oscars, Guneet and the film's director, Kartiki Gonsalves, wrote Oscar history when The Elephant Whisperers took home the trophy for Best Documentary Short Film.

The 41-minute movie tells the tale of Raghu, an orphaned elephant calf that mahouts Bomman and Bellie are caring for.

Guneet responded to the win on Twitter by saying that it was the first time an Indian production had ever won an Oscar. This was carried out by two women, and she is still trembling.

While earlier, Sikhya posted a few photos of Guneet and Karthiki holding their Oscars and wrote, "The story of these gentle giants took a giant step with this win. The devotion and love for baby elephant Raghu transcended boundaries. The Elephant Whisperers wins an Oscar for Best Documentary Short Film and like elephants, we too won't forget this moment."

The Elephant Whisperers was up for an award with How Do You Measure A Year Haul Out, Stranger at the Gate, and The Martha Mitchell Effect.

For Guneet, this is his second Oscar. Her first Oscar came in 2019 for the documentary short Period: End of Sentence which follows a group of local women as they learn how to run a machine that produces inexpensive, biodegradable sanitary pads that they then sell to other women at competitive costs.
