The makers of the upcoming Malayalam project, Paathirathri, have released its teaser today (September 22). It was unveiled by Malayalam's Megastar Mammootty through his official pages online.

In this crime thriller, Navya Nair and Soubin Shahir portray Jancy and Hareesh, a couple. With the assertion that "like everything else, love too has an expiry date," the teaser opens with a look at their conflicted relationship over the years. The pair, who are also police officers, are soon shown working on a grim investigation. Sources claim that an unexplained incident at midnight set off a series of unpredictable events that endanger their lives, jobs, and relationships. Overall, the teaser suggests that both of the main actors will deliver strong performances.

Paathirathri to release in October

Paathirathri's first look poster was recently released by the film's creators, confirming the movie's October release. They haven't, however, given a precise release date. An update on this is anticipated in the coming week. This film has been helmed by Ratheena, who also directed the acclaimed Malayalam flick, Puzhu. Mammootty and Parvathy Thiruvothu feature in Puzhu, which is available for viewing on Sony LIV and OTTplay Premium.

The crew recently revealed the first look at Pathirathri, in which Navya and Soubin play police officers. The poster also features actors Sunny Wayne and Ann Augustine, however, they are dressed in civilian attire. The strained expressions on the faces of all four suggest that a dark thriller is in the works. Important roles in this movie are also being played by Shabareesh Varma and Harisree Ashokan. According to earlier rumours, Pathirathri, which translates to "midnight," is based on real-life events and is set in the backdrop of Idukki.

Jakes Bejoy, who most recently worked on Lokah Chapter 1 Chandra, composed the soundtracks for Pathirathri. The screenplay was written by Shaji Maraad, who also co-wrote another police drama with Soubin Shahir in the lead role, Ela Veezha Poonchira.
