Malayalam star Fahadh Faasil’s return to comedy with Pachuvum Athbutha Vilakkum the past week has already been hailed by the family audience. The movie, which has already grossed close to Rs 3 crore from its four-day run since Friday as per trade sources, has already locked in its OTT platform.

The film marked the debut directorial of Sathyan Anthikad’s son Akhil Sathyan along with the Malayalam debut of Anjana Jayaprakash, Dhwani Rajesh and Viji Venkatesh. While Anjana and Dhwani have acted in Gautham Vasudev Menon’s Queen and Majid Majidi’s Beyond the Clouds, respectively, Viji made her debut as an actress with the feel-good entertainer after a career in cancer patient care in Mumbai.

Pachuvum Athbutha Vilakkum, which is shot in Mumbai, Kerala and Goa, revolves around the journey of Prashanth aka Pachu, who runs an ayurveda franchisee. Pachu is tasked with accompanying an older lady from his hometown in Chengannur to Mumbai, but things take a turn when she decides to get out of the train in Goa, with a mission of her own. How Pachu’s path crosses that of three women and the changes that he brings into their lives, form the plot of the movie, which hit theatres on April 28.

In an earlier interview with OTTplay, Akhil said, “I think this film is Fahadh’s most entertaining film after Njan Prakashan.” The filmmaker pointed out that Fahadh has acted in 10 movies since Njan Prakashan in 2019 but most of them had him in emotionally complex roles. “In this film, he plays a normal human being and it gives me a lot of joy because I like watching him doing humour-oriented roles,” explained the director, who has also scripted and edited the movie.

Pachuvum Athbutha Vilakkum’s OTT rights have been bagged by Amazon Prime Video, which is expected to begin streaming the movie by the end of May or the first week of June.
