The actor is celebrating his 75th birthday as he completed 50 years in the industry as an actor. Padayappa, which is a cult classic and one of the iconic Rajinikanth films, was received with the same vigour and enthusiasm as when it was released in 1999.

Padayappa is not streaming on any notable platforms because Rajinikanth who owns the film has not sold the rights to streamers or satellite. In a common interview before the re-release, Rajinikanth had revealed this and reasoned that Padayappa is meant to be watched only in theatres.

Rajinikanth had also announced a sequel for Padayappa, titled Neelambari and said that the writing is in works and if satisfied will be made into a film.
