Painkili on OTT: From the lead cast to the noted writer, here are the reason as to why you should watch Anaswara Rajan and Sajin Gopu’s Malayalam film on OTT.

The announcement of Painkili, starring Sajin Gopu and Anaswara Rajan, made everyone sit up and take notice. Apart from the lead stars, another aspect that excited fans was that Sreejith Babu’s directorial debut had Aavesham director Jithu Madhavan as the writer.
However, the pre-release hype failed to ensure a good theatre run despite Painkili garnering positive to mixed reviews. Almost two months after its theatrical release, Painkili is all set to hit to make its much-awaited OTT premiere on Manorama Max on April 11, 2025. From the lead cast to the noted writer, here are the reasons as to why you should watch Anaswara Rajan and Sajin Gopu’s Malayalam film on OTT.
One of the biggest strengths of Painkili is that two stellar actors - Sajin Gopu and Anaswara Rajan - appear in the lead roles. Anaswara Rajan has time and again proved that she can effortlessly slip into characters with her performances in popular movies such as Super Sharanya and Neru. Sajin Gopu, on the other hand, shot to fame with Fahadh Faasil’s hit film Aavesham, playing the role of Amban to perfection.

Suku gets himself admitted to a mental asylum to get out of a crisis, while Sheeba is constantly on the lookout for an opportunity to elope. What happens when the worlds of Suku and Sheeba collide? Sreejith Babu’s debut film ensures that laughs are aplenty as Sheeba enters Suku's world.
Jithu Madhavan established himself as a force to reckon with after his debut directorial Romancham emerged as a winner at the box office. He further elevated the scales when he directed the Fahadh Faasil-starrer action comedy, which was a runaway hit. Notably, both Romancham and Aavesham are also written by the filmmaker. Humour is the underlying theme in Painkili too as Jithu Madhavan adds various quirks to the characters and situations, giving an over-the-top tone for its comedy.

Another interesting feature of the film is the songs which carry the same zany tone of Painkili. The song ‘Baby Baby’, composed by Justin Varghese, is especially popular among fans. The peppy number, which also has Anaswara Rajan showing off her dance moves, is sung by Lalitha Vijayakumar, Himna Hilari and Hinitha Hilary. Other songs include ‘Heart Attack’ and ‘Lock’.
If you are tired of watching thriller films that seems to be the norm in Malayalam these days, check out Painkili on OTT next week.
