Dev Mohan’s sophomore effort and his first ever theatrical release Pathrand is all set to hit cinema halls on June 10 this year. The makers of the movie, which also has Lal, Vinayakan and Shine Tom Chacko, released its first trailer on May 7, and it promises to be a treat to the eyes and ears, courtesy of some fantastic work from cinematographer Swaroop Shoba Shanker and composer Alphons Joseph.

The trailer of the movie, which hints that it’s a story that is set in a coastal town, introduces its characters one by one and the incidents that happen when a mysterious stranger – essayed by Sufiyum Sujatayum actor Dev – enters the fray.

Shine and Vinayakan play gangster siblings named Anthro and Pathro in the movie, which has Lal as a politician. The trailer starts with Shine’s Anthro being questioned by a cop whether he knew Dev’s character earlier, to which he says that the latter has been responsible for causing misunderstandings among his group. At the end of the trailer, in a heated argument between Dev’s character and Anthro, we also get to see the gangster say that he has figured out what’s happening.

The movie has Dev essaying the role of an oud player. In an earlier interview with OTTplay, the film’s director Leo had told us, “We needed someone who looked graceful and Dev fit the bill. Once, the audience watches the movie, they would also pick the undertones that we have weaved into the script and his looks sort of contribute to that.”

The trailer ends with shots of a cyclone at sea and Alphons music in the movie promises to elevate its intriguing content. Panthrand also has James Eliya, Chembil Ashokan and Srinda in pivotal roles. Leo had earlier helmed Vineeth Sreenivasan’s Oru Cinemakkaran and Jayaram’s Lonappante Mammodeesa.
