Director Mari Selvaraj, who has risen to become a prominent voice in Tamil cinema, made a smashing debut with his 2018 film Pariyerum Perumal. The social drama, which has romance at its heart, is about a boy named Pariyan from an oppressed community who aspires to study law. But as he moves to a bigger town and befriends a girl, Jo from a privileged community, the boy understands the wrathful side of discriminative society.

Pariyerum Perumal turns seven, and remains to be one of the critically acclaimed Tamil films, which has turned iconic and a milestone. Mari Selvaraj, who is currently helming his next film Bison with Dhruv Vikram, had crafted Pariyerum Perumal with utmost integrity and empathy. The film is available for streaming on Prime Video.
