The upcoming Malayalam film Patriot is unlike any other recent film from the industry as it brings together a whole bunch of stars, including the bigs Ms - Mohanlal and Mammootty. Helmed by noted filmmaker Mahesh Narayanan, the film is set to release in theatres on April 23, 2026. Now, Mammootty has shared a BTS video of Patriot, offering a glimpse into the making in Sri Lanka.

What does Patriot BTS video show

Malayalam megastar Mammootty shared the BTS video of Patriot, touted to be a spy thriller, on Facebook on February 12. The 1.01-minute video, Patriot Behind The Scenes: Srilanka -Volume 1, shows the cast and crew in action as they shoot one of the most-anticipated Malayalam films of the year. The BTS video features director Mahesh Narayanan, actors preparing and the crew setting up the scenes at what appears to be an air base. There are shots of planes, helicopters and fighter jets taking off.

The lead stars of Mammootty and Mohanlal are reuniting after 18 years for Patriot. Fahadh Faasil, who recently revealed that he would be playing a villain in the upcoming film is also seen gearing up to fly a plane. Actor Kunchacko Boban is also shown, and he appears to be an air force official.

Notably, the female actors of Patriot were absent from the video. Nayanthara, Darshana Rajendran and Revathy are among the actresses of Patriot.

When will Patriot release

Patriot will release in theatres on April 23, 2026. The film arrives in cinemas three weeks after another much-anticipated movie, Drishyam, starring Mohanlal. Patriot revolves around a mission to prevent attempts to implement a surveillance programme, Periscope, to monitor citizens. Dr. Daniel James, who is facing serious allegations, and Col. Rahim Naik are at the centre of the mission.

The makers have been sharing updates on the film. Earlier this month, they revealed the character posters of the lead actors.
