The much-awaited Patriot movie update is here! Malayalam superstar Mohanlal has revealed that Mammootty's much-anticipated film will hit theatres on April 23, 2026. As promised by both Mammootty and Mohanlal, the big Patriot update was revealed at 10.10am on January 26. Helmed by Mahesh Narayanan, the much-awaited film features an envious star-studded cast.

When will Patriot movie release

Mohanlal, who also plays a key role in the Mammootty film, announced the Patriot movie release date on his Twitter page. "Unleashing the spirit of fearless voices, this Republic Day. #PATRIOT arrives worldwide on April 23, 2026. The countdown begins NOW." Mohanlal also released a new poster from the movie, featuring the lead cast.

Notably, Mohanlal's much-anticipated film Drishyam 3 also hits theatres in April, but in the first week on April 2. Jeethu Joseph-helmed film continues with the story of Georgekutty.

It also needs to be pointed out that fans had already claimed that Patriot would release in theatres on April 23, having successfully decoded a ‘Morse code’ on the posters.

The makers of Patriot have been building up hype for the upcoming film with poster reveals of all the major characters, starting with Nayanthara, Fahadh Faasil and Kunchacko Boban on January 25. Mohanlal and Mammootty’s posters were the last to be revealed with the stars unveiling each other’s posters, and promising a bigger announcement would be made on January 26. A Malayalam movie that drummed up huge hype before release was Mohanlal’s Empuraan. Actor Jayasurya’s upcoming film Aadu 3, set for a March release, also made the poster reveal of its characters on Sunday.

Who are the actors in Patriot

Patriot features Mammootty in the lead role of Daniel James, while Mohanlal would also be seen in the key role of Colonel Rahim. Fahadh Faasil, Kunchacko Boban and Nayanthara are the other notable names in the cast. Actresses Darshana Rajendran, Zarin Shihab and Revathy are also part of the upcoming film.

On the other hand, the Patriot announcement comes a day after Mammootty was conferred with the prestigious Padma Bhushan award by the central government. He also received the Kerala State Film Award for Best Actor for his performance in Bramayugam on Sunday.
