Malayalam actress Nikhila Vimal, who is quite a rage on Instagram reels for her ‘thug’ replies, is awaiting the release of her upcoming film, Pennu Case. The Guruvayoor Ambalanadayil actress plays a wedding scammer in the Malayalam movie, helmed by Febin Sidharth. But Nikhila pointed out that it is challenging for actresses to take up negative roles as the audience are not as kind as they are to male actors, citing the example of Dileep’s hugely popular Meesha Madhavan, where he played a thief.

The 2025 Malayalam film Pennu Case stars Nikhila Vimal, who says that she is a pan-Indian fraud in the movie. During a recent interview with The RJ Mike Show, Nikhila pointed out that the fraud committed by men and women are seen differently by audiences or larger society.

Citing the example of the 2002 Malayalam film Meesha Madhavan Nikhila said actor Dileep’s thief role in the movie is much liked by audiences. “But in your day-to-day life, no one would like a thief or his family. However, in films, the thief is glorified and it is convincing. But if a woman is seen in such a character, I am not sure if that can be portrayed convincingly. There is a bigger problem against women who have a negative image, while men, it is kind of accepted that they can do whatever they want or get away with it.”

Nikhila further said that her character will be appearing in 13 different bride avatars throughout the movie, as she commits marriage fraud in various regions across Kerala, Tamil Nadu and Karnataka.

Actor Hakkim Shajahan plays the other lead role in the film along with Ramesh Pisharody, Irshad Ali, and Aju Varghese. The teaser was released two months ago, and the film is expected to be a December release though an exact date is yet to be announced.
