Pennum Porattum, which is set against the backdrop of a village comprising seemingly peace-loving residents, revolves around a dog and a bold woman named Charulatha who break the limits imposed by the people and thereby exposing the cruel nature of the villagers. As two groups of people chase the dog and Charulatha, Rajesh uses this to take the audience through a trip of morality, desire, violence and oppression.

Reasons to watch Pennum Porattum on OTT

The movie will appeal to those who enjoyed Senna Hegde’s Avihitham and Thinkalazhcha Nishchayam Much like Hegde’s movies, all the characters and its village setting lends freshness to the story, which is told through humour even though it deals with violence and moral policing.

Pennum Porattum is also told through the perspectives of the villagers and the dog, and Tovino’s voice as the dalmatian Suttu lends humour to the plight of the an imal.

Though the film marks Rajesh’s debut as a filmmaker, the adeptness at which he has handled the complex topic and presented to the audience will also make it a talking point once it begins streaming on Netflix on March 13.
