The English title of Pennum Porattum is Girl and The Fools Parade. Penned by Ravi Shankar, the film takes us to a rustic Kerala village with its oddball characters. A youth makes a clandestine request to the young Charulatha, which somehow becomes the talk of town, sharply dividing the villagers. Amid this, the dog Suttu breaks free from its abusive household and is branded as rabid with villagers trying to nab him. These two narratives clash in the film, which is an absurdist and satirical take on society, human prejudices and moral policing.
