The makers of the Malayalam star Nivin Pauly's web series, Pharma, has unveiled a promo video today (November 25). The social drama, directed by PR Arun, is anticipated to launch its debut season on JioHotstar and OTTplay Premium shortly.

In a one-minute and seventeen-second video, Nivin Pauly plays medical sales representative KP Vinod, who explains some facts about the pharmaceutical industry. He starts out by explaining that while a painkiller medication may alleviate your misery for five minutes, it may cause long-term problems down the road. When a patient is urged to take two ounces of cough syrup by a chemist, Nivin's character adds that you may only need one ounce, but you are asked to take two in order for the medicine to get over soon.

"Who decided the 200 mg or 500 mg labels on medicine covers? You don't know right? There are a lot of other unknown stuffs that might have already entered your body by now," he continued. Nivin asks whether we are truly cautious when purchasing medications in the same way that we are cautious about other needs and food in our lives as the video comes to an end. "Angry? Sorry no hard feelings. It is just business," he replies smiling putting on his ID card.

Pharma plot and other details

Pharma's filming was finished last year, according to sources. The web series, which is anticipated to contain six to eight episodes, explores the Indian pharmaceutical sector through the character of Nivin. The pressure medical professionals in the field confront to reach their goals and the methods they employ to do so will also be a major theme of the show.
