The makers of Mani Ratnam's magnum opus Ponniyin Selvan 2 dropped a sneak peek of Trisha's character in the film, Ilaiya Piratti Kundavai. The 45-second video gives a glimpse of how Trisha's look from the film was designed, right from her hair to the fabric of her clothes. They also dropped the many looks of the actress from the historical fiction and it wouldn't be an exaggeration to say that the actress looked regal in each one of them. They also announced that the first single from the film will be out soon.

Taking to their social media handle, the producers wrote, "Sharp tongue. Fierce mind. Powerhouse! Have you missed our eternal beauty? Watch what went on BTS as @trishtrashers became #Kundavai! First Single Coming Soon! Stay tuned #PS #PS1 #PS2 #PonniyinSelvan #ManiRatnam @arrahman @LycaProductions @Tipsofficial @tipsmusicsouth (sic)."

Ponniyin Selvan 2 will cover the extended battle to the Chola throne. The first part of the film ended with Arunmozhi Varman and Vallavarayan Vanthiyathevan fighting it out to save their lives amid a huge storm. The film is an adaptation of eminent novelist Kalki's eponymous five-part novel of the same name. PS 2 as the film, is fondly referred to, has an ensemble cast with Vikram playing Adithya Varman, Karthi as Vallavarayan Vanthiyathevan, Jayam Ravi as Arunmozhi Varman, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan as Nandini Devi and Trisha as Kundavai.

Music for the film is by AR Rahman. The composer had earlier stated that there was a delay in the music because they wanted lot of goodies for the audience. He wrote on his social media handle, " "News about PS Score ..our team decided to load you up with more goodies …hence the delay ..will announce new release date when it’s ready…#love #peace #music #PonniyinSelvan #maniratnam (sic)." It looks like the album will have additional songs that were originally planned.

Meanwhile, the film is gearing up to hit screens on April 28. Ponniyin Selvan 2 is jointly bankrolled by Madras Talkies and Lyca Productions.
