Ever since the makers of Mani Ratnam's magnum opus Ponniyin Selvan released the deleted video song, Sol Sol from the film, fans have been asking the director why the song was not included in the final cut. The makers of PS: I recently announced that the unreleased song Sol Sol will be released and they dropped the full song on their social media handle today.

The official handle of Madras Talkies shared the song and captioned it, "A symphony for the ears, a treat for the eyes! Here is the video song of the beautiful #Chol from #PS1  https://youtu.be/F567r4GkjGY #PonniyinSelvan1 #ManiRatnam @arrahman @LycaProductions @Tipsofficial @tipsmusicsouth @trishtrashers #SobhitaDhulipala (sic)." In the song, Ilaiya Piratti Kundavai (Trisha) and Kadambur princess Vanathi (Sobhita) are seen dancing like a dream. Though the song has brought a lot of excitement among fans of Trisha, it looks like they are disappointed with Mani Ratnam that the song was not included in the film. Sample some of the tweets here.

In the meantime, Ponniyin Selvan has gone on to become one of the highest grossers among south Indian films released in 2022. The film, directed by Mani Ratnam, is an adaptation of Kalki's eponymous five-part novel Ponniyin Selvan. The film, which is being released in two parts has an ensemble cast including Vikram as Crown Prince Aditha Karikalan, Trisha as Ilaiya Piratti Kundavai, Jayam Ravi as Ponniyin Selvan Arulmozhi Varman, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan as Queen of Pazhuvoor Nandini and Karthi as Vallavarayan Vanthiyathevan. The plot revolves around the battle for the Chola throne after Sundara Chola, the reigning king, falls ill and becomes bedridden.

Music for the film is by AR Rahman, art direction by Thotta Tharani, cinematography by Ravi Varman and editing by Sreekar Prasad. The film was jointly bankrolled by Madras Talkies and Lyca Productions.
