On the occasion of Maha Shivaratri, the makers of the most-awaited movie Project K announced its release date. Superstars Prabhas and Deepika Padukone also unveiled a new poster of the movie with the announcement. The big-budget science-fiction will arrive in cinemas worldwide on January 12, 2024. The film's release will also coincide with the Sankranti/Pongal festival.

The new poster of the film shows a giant broken hand of a statue against the backdrop soaked in yellow. The marble hand is treated as a threat and is investigated by a team of armed soldiers. The poster gives us a glimpse of the scope and scale of the project, which is touted to be one of the most expensive films made in India.

Project K is director Nag Ashwin's ambitious project. Earlier, he made quite an impression among the movie-going audience with Mahanati (2018), the biopic on the late acting great Savitri. However, Project K is an extremely different beast and its cast feature some of the biggest names in Indian cinema. Besides Prabhas and Deepika, the film also stars Amitabh Bachchan. Bankrolled by Vyjayanthi Movies, the production is going on at a brisk pace on the futuristic sets built at Ramoji Film City.

The film is being shot in Telugu and Hindi. And it will be dubbed in other major Indian languages.

Project K marks Deepika's debut in Telugu. Deepika is currently basking in the success of her latest blockbuster Pathaan, starring Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan in the lead. Pathaan was released in January and it's fast nearing a worldwide gross of Rs 1000.

Meanwhile, Prabhas had recently taken a break from shooting after he developed a fever. He's shooting simultaneously for Salaar and Project K in Hyderabad. Written and directed by Prashanth Neel, Salaar is another highly-anticipated film. The film is due in cinemas on September 28.
