Dynamic Star Devaraj’s younger son, Pranam, is still testing waters in the Kannada film industry, having done movies like Kumari 21F and Son of Muthanna, both of which had him in lover boy roles. This is an image that Pranam wants to shake, given that most of the offers he’s been getting have all been in the same format. He’s been itching for a film like his brother Prajwal’s Sixer, which had a good mix of all commercial elements and that, he thinks, he will get with his next, titled MGR.

The title poster was revealed on January 28, 2026, on Pranam’s birthday. The film will be directed by Srikanth Hunsur, who made Pranam’s last, Son of Muthanna, and promises to showcase the actor in a never-before-seen avatar. MGR is being co-produced by Pranam’s brother, actor Prajwal Devaraj, while Charan Raj is handling the music and Skating Krishna the cinematography.

Speaking at the title launch, Pranam said that MGR will be a new chapter in his fledgling career. “In all these years since I turned actor, the stories that were coming to me, and the films I did were all romantic dramas and portrayed me as a cute boy-next-door. I’ve been yearning for a different film, at least one like Prajwal’s Sixer. The first look of MGR that we have revealed is a rugged massy one, but this is a character that has elements of romance, emotional drama, humour, action and more,” said Pranam.

The role, he adds, requires a physical transformation, with the actor hoping to attain his goal physique by March-April. The team says that the film will have a big star cast, with further announcements to be made later on. The plan is to have the film in theatres by the end of 2026.
