Is Prathichaya about ex-Kerala CM

Prathichaya hits theatres on March 26, two weeks before the state of Kerala goes to polls on April 9. In a recent interview with Manorama News, Prathichaya director B Unnikrishnan addressed the questions on whether Prathichaya is based on the former Chief Minister.

"We take our references from our social surroundings. When we create a story world, familiarity or a connect is essential. The film is not about the single figure of Oommen Chandy. When we create a political leader in a film, there are several reference points. In some of the character's mannerisms, you will be able to see leader K Karunakaran (another former Kerala CM). His humor, sarcastic jibes can be spotted. This is a hybrid character,” the filmmaker stated.

The former CM was also embroiled in the sensational solar case, which became a major talking point during the previous polls. But B Unnikrishnan, who has also penned the film, clarified that his film does not touch upon the Solar case.

What is Prathichaya movie about

The Prathichaya movie revolves around the State Chief Minister, who faces a setback. The film will explore his bond with his son, who tries to step up to the occasion. While Balachandra Menon plays the CM, actor Nivin Pauly is seen as the son. Prathichaya is expected to delve into the state politics.

The film features an ensemble cast, including actors Sharaf U Dheen, Neethu Krishna, Maniyanpilla Raju, Saikumar, Nishanth Sagar, Harisree Ashokan and Ann Augustine.

Prathichaya will face competition from Jayasurya’s Aadu 3 which has been performing well at the box office so far.
