Premalu sequel confirmed | Here’s what we would like to see in Part 2 of Naslen and Mamitha Baiju’s movie
Director Girish AD’s Premalu was the surprise Malayalam hit of the year. Now that a sequel has been confirmed, many are taking guesses about what could feature in it. And now, we’ve joined the game

The starcast of Premalu will be retained in the sequel
Naslen Gafoor and Mamitha Baiju’s Premalu, which was a surprise hit, is back in the news, with people discussing online about a possible sequel to the movie. Soon after, director Girish AD confirmed that there will indeed be a Premalu sequel, which will be released in theatres in 2025. While we do not yet know the story of the sequel, the director has said that the star cast will not change.
Premalu has been on my mind since I watched it on Disney+ Hotstar a few days ago. Although I was underwhelmed after watching it, I can’t deny that there is something hatke about the movie. Such as Mamitha’s character—someone refreshingly devoid of bulls**t who felt real. I could really relate to her. I also liked the novel climax; it was nice to not see an airport chase for a change and I was so glad that Sachin (Naslen’s character) boarded his flight to London.

Sachin loses his tresses, wins understanding
After avoiding seeing one for the longest time, Sachin finally enters a barber’s shop in London and gets a hair cut! Now people can finally see his face clearly and understand him. Okay, I don’t actually want to see this in Premalu 2, but it really would be nice if Naslen could please get a haircut for the sequel.
Here’s what I would like to really see for Naslen’s character: Sachin sweats it out in freezing London and becomes a responsible man, much like what Reenu initially wanted in her ideal man. But is Reenu still attracted to this new version of Sachin? A man that she doesn’t have to take care of and who can, now, take care of himself and her.
Aadhi and Reenu get married…JK!
Aadhi, who completely loses it towards the final minutes of Preamlu (something that didn’t make much sense and was not really required in the movie, I thought), is penalised. He spends time behind bars before his rich parents bail him out and send him to take care of their plantation in Kerala. He is busy with the fertilisation there and we don’t really get to see much of him…thankfully!

Reenu struggles to balance her business and long-distance relationship
Reenu, with renewed confidence, files a case against Aadhi. She not only takes Aadhi to task but doesn't allow any other man to tell her what to do or not to do. She realises that her passion lies in helping women find their voice. So, she moves to Bangalore and, together with Karthika, sets up an organisation that helps women boost their careers. However, she struggles to find time between founding a startup and being in a long-distance relationship with Sachin. And this strains their relationship.
Amal Davis is single and ready to mingle
After finding out that he went to a nightclub with Sachin, Reenu, Karthika and Wanderlust, Amal’s girlfriend breaks up with him. He loses all interest in joining IIT Roorkee and instead takes up an IT job. A newly-single Amal is ready to mingle, and how! He and Wanderlust go out partying every weekend and are living it up, although they never hook up with each other, at least not initially.
