Director Prashanth Neel’s Salaar is already among the most-anticipated films, post the stupendous success of his previous two movies from KGF franchise starring Yash. Now, Prithviraj Sukumaran, who has been roped into play a pivotal character in the upcoming Prabhas-starrer, offered some updates about the big budget venture, which is currently in production.

In a press meet in Kochi, Prithviraj said that Salaar’s shoot is currently on. “I will be joining the next schedule in January, which again will be in Hyderabad. After that, Prabhas and I will have a schedule in Italy for about 10 days,” said the actor, who will be seen essaying the role of Vardharaja Mannaar in the movie that also has Shruti Haasan and Jagapathi Babu in pivotal characters.

While till now it was rumoured that Prithviraj will be playing the role of the antagonist in the movie, he dropped a bomb that stated otherwise. While the Gold actor said he can’t divulge too much about Salaar as it would spoil the fun, he did confirm, “It’s not like Prabhas is the hero and I am the villain in the film.”

Prithviraj, who is also set to begin work on his next directorial Empuraan in 2023, had also distributed Prashanth’s KGF: Chapter 2 earlier this year in Malayalam. On the comparisons of Salaar and KGF sequel, the actor said that he was unaware of the budget on which the upcoming film is mounted. “Prashanth is a friend. I had a seen a few rushes of the film as shown by the editor and it’s good,” said the superstar.

Prithviraj, meanwhile, will next be seen in Shaji Kailas’ gangster drama Gold, which also has Asif Ali, Aparna Balamurali and Anna Ben as part of the cast. The movie is set to hit theatres on December 22.
