Malayalam star Prithviraj Sukumaran is going the whole nine yards to ensure that his upcoming other-language ventures – Salaar and a Bollywood film that will be produced by Karan Johar – also reflects the perfection that he’s known for in his home turf.

In a recent interview, ahead of the release of his upcoming movie Kaapa, Prithviraj revealed that he has been taking extra efforts to ensure that he does complete justice to the characters that he play on screen.

The actor had completed a schedule of KGF director Prashanth Neel’s Salaar, which has him teaming up with Prabhas. The movie also has actors from other languages too including Tinu Anand and the Kaduva star said that each of these actors say their dialogues in their own languages. “Prashanth’s thought process is that it will be dubbed in all languages and so it will be right for a particular language,” told Prithviraj to The Cue, adding that he has the choice to speak in Malayalam, given that the movie will have big release in Kerala.

However, Prithviraj says he didn’t choose the easy route. “I can’t say my dialogues based on prompting. So, I used to learn the lines by rote during the night,” he said, explaining that people would always find him on the sets of Salaar with a paper and pad. Prithviraj is expected to join the next schedule on Salaar in Hyderabad in January and also head to Italy to shoot a few portions with Prabhas later next year.

The actor says that he has always taken the effort for these aspects. “Prashanth would ask why I am taking the pains to do it, but I tell it’s my personal obstinacy to see it through.”

The actor also opened up about the character he is playing in Kayoze Irani’s Bollywood film that also has Kajol and Saif Ali Khan’s son Ibrahim. “I play a Malayali named Vijay Menon. The film’s director told me that the Hindi accent doesn’t have to be pitch perfect because it’s a Malayali character. That’s not how I work. I sit with a diction coach and learn it,” said the actor. The yet-to-be-titled film is touted to be an emotional thriller, which is set to go on floors in January 2023.
