Count on director Ranjith Sankar to make movies that the audience can easily relate to. For his next venture 4 Years, the filmmaker has chosen to take the audience on a nostalgia ride, back to their college days and the movie’s first song – Vaanila Thaarake – promises a feel-good vibe, made all the more memorable by the chemistry between its lead pair essayed by Sarjano Khalid and Priya Prakash Varrier.

The song’s video gives us glimpses of the meet cute between the couple – Vishal and Gayathri - and how their bond evolves from friendship to something more – all against the backdrop of their college. Ranjith seems to have used all the elements that are sure to captivate the audience, from the rain-drenched walk with friends to relationship advice at college corridors and empty classrooms.

Set to Sankar Sarma’s catchy tune, the visual track also reveals that the movie could explore the four years of college life of its protagonists and how things have changed when they revisit them on the final days of college at the same place that gave life to those memories. The peppy, Vaanila Thaarake, is rendered by Ayraan and Sruthy Sivadas, and written by Arathi Mohan.

The movie, which has completed shooting and is set to release in November, is written and directed by Ranjith Sankar, who is also producing the film. Ranjith has also written lyrics for a track in the movie. Salu K Thomas is cranking the camera for the movie, which has Tapas Nayak as the sound designer.

The trailer of 4 Years was released last week and racked up a million hits within 19 hours. The filmmaker shared on his social media that it was “the fastest one million” in his career, and he was “humbled” by the support of the audience.
