Priyadarshan shares he had nothing to do with Bhooth Bangla being preponed

Despite being the director of Bhooth Bangla, Priyadarshan did not take the call to prepone the release of the film. He did not object to it either, stating that the call was from the film’s makers to avoid a clash with ‘big films.’ The original date of May 15 saw a clash with Ekta Kapoor’s other film, Vvan featuring Sidharth Malhotra and Tamannaah Bhatia, along with Ayushmann Khurrana’s Pati Patni Aur Woh Do.

“We were originally planning to release it in May, but the makers said that some big films were releasing at that time. Then suddenly, I got a call from Ektaa asking if we could release it earlier. I said okay because once I am done with the film, I don’t get involved in those matters,” Priyadarshan shared with E Times.

Interestingly, the new date announced would have seen an indirect clash with Salman Khan’s Battle of Galwan. The Apoorva Lakhia directorial was initially slated for release on April 17, 2026. It is now reportedly postponed for August 14 release (after Salman’s chat with Akshay Kumar about their films facing a possible Box Office clash).

Speaking about it, the filmmaker added, “I have no idea why that was done. It was entirely the decision of the makers (Akshay Kumar, Ektaa Kapoor and Shobha Kapoor). As far as I’m concerned, the film is ready.”

Bhooth Bangla is now scheduled for theatrical release on April 10, 2026.
