Director Nag Ashwin, the brain behind memorable films like Yevade Subrahmanyam and Mahanati, is busy carving his futuristic sci-fi tale, Project K, to perfection. The multistarrer, comprising Prabhas, Deepika Padukone, Amitabh Bachchan and Disha Patani, is among the most awaited films, for its ambition, dream-casting and Nag Ashwin’s storytelling credentials.

Well, while you need to wait till 2024 at least to catch Project K on the big screen, there’s a surprise for film buffs as 2022 draws to a close. A special glimpse of Project K was unveiled earlier today. The one-and-a-half minute-long video, From Skratch Ep1: Re-Inventing the Wheel, takes the viewers through the making of a special wheel, exclusively designed by the team for the film.

The glimpse begins with Nag Ashwin’s statement on Project K, where he says everything needs to built from scratch for the film. The makers shift the focus towards a set where producer Priyanka Dutt is supervising the work that goes into the making of a special wheel. A few crew members even take a dig at Nag Ashwin for the humbug around a wheel, when there are so many of them available in the market already.

More episodes are expected to be out in the ‘From Skratch’ series in the coming months. Earlier this year, Project K was in the news when Nag Ashwin made a public appeal to Anand Mahindra, requesting help with automobile equipment from Mahindra Group for his magnum opus. Mahindra Group readily agreed to the collaboration and one can’t wait to see what has materialised with this association.

Vyjayanthi Movies, the production house behind Project K, had a good year at the box office, with its only release, Sita Ramam, emerging a viewer’s favourite. The Dulquer Salmaan-Mrunal Thakur starrer was a sweeping romance seeped in nostalgia backed by an excellent music score from Vishal Chandrasekhar. Project K’s lead star Prabhas awaits the release of Adipurush, Salaar and Spirit in the coming years.
