Streaming platform Sony LIV seems to be on a signing spree lately. The movie, which earlier this month, dropped Malavika Mohanan and Mathew Thomas’ Christy, will have another release this week with Darshana Rajendran’s Purusha Pretham.

The latter, which is helmed by Kerala State Film Award-winning director Krishand, is a crime-comedy that will release directly on the streaming platform on March 24. The movie has Darshana Rajendran, Prashanth Alexander and Jagadeesh in pivotal roles and revolves around an unidentified body that gets misplaced by the police officers.

While Purusha Pretham is a direct-to-OTT release, the platform has also bagged the streaming rights for two big releases of April – Tovino Thomas and Asif Ali’s 2018 and Basil Joseph’s Kadina Kadoramee Andakadaham.

2018, which is helmed by Jude Anthany Joseph, is based on the 2018 Kerala floods and the heroic rescue efforts in the State. The multi-starrer, which also has Lal, Vineeth Sreenivasan, Narain, Aparna Balamurali, Kunchacko Boban and Tanvi Ram, is set to hit theatres on April 21 as an Eid release. The movie, which is made on a big-budget, is also one of the biggest releases next month and can be expected to begin streaming on Sony LIV by May or June this year.

Basil Joseph’s Kadina Kadoramee Andakadaham, which is touted to be a feel-good entertainer, is also an Eid release and is expected to release on April 20. The movie is helmed by debutant director Muhasin and is scripted by Harshad. The film also has Johny Antony, Indrans, Binu Pappu, Fara Shibla and Sudheesh as part of the cast.

Sony LIV is also set to produce original Malayalam web series and we hear that several projects have already been greenlit by the streaming platform, which has released the most direct-to-OTT Malayalam movies since the pandemic including Mammootty’s Puzhu and Dulquer Salmaan’s Salute. Sony LIV’s content can also be streamed on OTTplay Premium.
