Dulquer Salmaan’s Chup, which is set to hit theatres on September 23, is already proving to be a winner. The film, which won largely positive response from the audience after its free preview on September 20, was most recently lauded by the makers of The Family Man – Raj Nidimoru and Krishna DK.

The duo, who recently collaborated with the Malayalam star for his web series debut Guns and Gulaabs, took to their social networking page on Thursday to lavish praise on the R Balki directorial, which also stars Sunny Deol, Shreya Dhanwanthary and Pooja Bhatt.

Stating that they watched the film on Wednesday, the creators of the hit show starring Manoj Bajpayee, said that Chup: Revenge of the Artiste was a “quirky one-of-a-kind meta experience” that was “unpredictable and irreverent”.

They showered praise on Dulquer, whom they said “literally kills it with the various shades of his character”. In a recent interview with Khaleej Times, Dulquer had stated that all actors feel most alive when they are playing dark, grey or intense roles as these characters have heightened emotions. Dulquer plays a florist in the movie, which marks his third outing in Bollywood after Karwaan and The Zoya Factor.

The Family Man creators also praised Shreya for her role as “the film buff that all of us want to be”. The duo claimed that director R Balki has given an “exciting and unique” twist to things and Sunny Deol’s performance offers plenty of “seeti moments” too.

Buoyed by the reviews, the movie is expected to get a solid opening when it releases on Friday, especially in select theatres where tickets are priced at Rs 75 due to it being National Cinema Day. The film is set to be shown in over 4000 screens in Indian and is also expected to rake in decent box office revenue in the Middle East, where Dulquer has a solid fan base.
