Rakkasapuradhol followed the Su from So strategy of paid premieres to let the content do the talking. Despite decent reviews, footfall conversion remained low but even in the first week

Rakkasapuradhol, a Kannada crime thriller starring Raj B Shetty in the lead as the investigation officer looking into a spate of murders of young women, released in theatres on February 6, 2026. The debut directorial of a long-time Prem associate, Ravi Saranga, the film was produced by Ravi Verma. The film followed the promotional strategy of Raj’s home production Su From So, focusing on paid premieres and word-of-mouth publicity from audiences rather than the team doing a gazillion interviews.

The first premiere was in Mysuru, 2 days prior to the release, followed by shows in Bengaluru and a few other key centres on the eve of the release. The response from all these shows was carefully packaged and released on social media to drum up excitement around the film. Yet strangely, despite average to above average reviews from both audiences and critics alike, it has not resulted in a massive spike in collections.
According to tracker sacnilk, Rakkasapuradhol began its box office journey with a Day 1 haul of Rs 0.27 cr (net), which improved slightly over the weekend, with Sunday hitting a high of Rs 0.5 cr. Since then, though, there was a downward slide, which has stabilized, with weekday collections between Rs 0.22 cr to 0.26 cr. So far, Rakkasapuradhol has grossed Rs 2.5 cr only in 8 days, whereas Su from So’s net figure stood at Rs 24 cr in the same time frame.

Raj and the team of Rakkasapuradhol have been continuing with promotional activities and all eyes are now on the second weekend to see if the positive word about the film gets people to theatres. But then with the ongoing ICC T20 World Cup and the much-hyped India-Pak encounter on February 15, theatrical footfall conversion may remain sluggish for Rakkasapuradhol.
The film, meanwhile, unfolds in a village called Rakkasapura, where the crime rate is low and the villagers hold the local priest and his words in high esteem. When he predicts a series of unfortunate events in the village, bodies of young women begin to drop. This coincides with the arrival of the new Sub Inspector Shiva, who seeks to make sense of the folklore of a bloodthirsty demon on the loose, while battling his own inner demons.
Also starring B Suresha, Jahangir, Swathishta Krishna, Archana Kottige and Anirudh Bhat, among others, Rakkasapuradhol is headed to Zee5 (via OTTplay Premium also) after its theatrical run.
