Ram Gopal Varma confirms Sarkar 4

"I am making Sarkar 4. I'm starting that next month," Ram Gopal Varma confirmed at Red Lorry Film Festival. Whether Amitabh Bachchan’s recent mysterious Twitter conversations were a hint at the same or not remains a mystery. The movie is likely to feature Amitabh Bachchan as well as Abhishek Bachchan in the lead roles.

The very first movie in the series, Sarkar, was released in 2005. This is where Amitabh Bachchan got recognized for his lead role of Subhash Nagre. Abhishek Bachchan, who is the real-life son of Amitabh Bachchan, also acted in the movie. It is where junior Bachchan portrayed the role of Big B’s on-screen son, Shankar.

The sequel to the movie, Sarkar Raj, was released in 2008. It is where Aishwarya Rai debuted playing the role of Anita Rajan.

The third installment, Sarkar 3, was released in 2017. Although the characters of Amitabh Bachchan and Abhishek Bachchan were reprised, the movie also had Yami Gautam, Manoj Bajpayee and Amit Sadh in pivotal roles. Whether they return for Sarkar 4 remains uncertain at this point.
