Raymo on OTT: Ishan and Ashika Ranganath’s musical love story gets a streaming date

Raymo was director Pavan Wadeyar’s return to the love story genre. Featuring Ishan (of Rogue fame) and Ashika Ranganath as two diametrically opposite personalities, who still fall in love, eventually, the film opened in theatres in November last year and received mixed reviews. The makers, though, managed to sell the film to Zee Network soon enough, and it was believed that the streamer would bring the film to its platform for Valentine’s Day, considering its genre. While that didn’t happen, today, the team has officially announced that the film will be available from March 10.

The film follows the protagonist, Revanth (Ishan), who goes by the name Raymo as his rockstar avatar, a hard-partying and womanizing musician, and how his life changes after he meets classical singer Mohana (Ashika). The film also stars Sarathkumar, Madhoo Shah, Achyuth Kumar and Rajesh Nataranga as part of its extended cast. The film is a love story between two people who are as different as chalk and cheese. “He’s a flamboyant, hard-partying rockstar, while she is the more demure classical singer. Physically also they are very different, with Raymo towering over Mohana. The question is if love can overcome the challenges posed by their differing personalities,” Pavan had told us.

Ishan added that the fact that he is nothing like his onscreen character is what drew him to playing the lead in the film. “I am nothing like him. So, getting into the skin of the character took a lot of effort. Pavan was immensely helpful, guiding me through each of the scenes. As an actor, playing Raymo was quite the challenge, but one that I absolutely enjoyed because of how much of a learning experience it was,” says Ishan, whose next in Kannada is a film with the team of the late Puneeth Rajkumar’s James, director Chethan Kumar and producer Kishore Pathikonda.
