RC 16 update: Ram Charan’s sports drama with Buchi Babu Sana is special for Kannada audiences because Century Star Shivarajkumar is a part of it

Telugu superstar Ram Charan, whose last release Gamechanger was a massive disaster, is gearing up to present his next to audiences. Directed by Buchi Babu Sana, the film, tentatively called RC 16, is said to be a village sports drama. Launched in March 2024, the film is reportedly targeting a March 2026 theatrical release, but ahead of it, the makers are looking at giving audiences a sneak peek into what’s in store.
Earlier today, it was revealed that the team of RC 16 will unveil the title of the film, and a first look on the occasion of the leading man’s birthday on March 27. “Grit, power, and an untamed spirit from the rural lands ❤️🔥 #RC16 TITLE & FIRST LOOK out tomorrow at 9.09 AM,” read the announcement. There has been speculation that the film is called Peddhi, which will be revealed on March 27.
That the announcement poster was accompanied by the hashtag #RamCharanRevolts is seen as indication that the actor plays a rebellious character in the film, with the narrative then focusing on a transformative journey.
The update on RC 16 is interesting to audiences in Sandalwood too, given that Century Star Shivarajkumar has a pivotal cameo in it. In fact, RC 16 was one of the first commitments he attended too, following his break from cinema to recuperate from his cancer treatment and surgery. Shivarajkumar recently completed his schedule for the film in Hyderabad, which is said to include crucial sequences that set the tone of the film.
Jhanvi Kapoor, who debuted in Telugu cinema with last year’s Devara, is paired with Ram Charan in the film, while Jagapati Babu is also a part of the cast. AR Rahman is scoring music for the film, the streaming rights of which have been picked up by Netflix.
