Filmmaker Pradeep Sarkar breathed his last today on March 24 at the age of 67. The popular director is best known for making films like Parineeta and Mardaani. A lot of celebrities from the entertainment industry mourn Sarkar's death and paid tribute to the gentle soul on social media. Actors like Abhishek Bachchan and Ajay Devgn shared their heartfelt notes and addressed the deceased as 'Dada' in their Twitter posts.

Bholaa actor-director Devgn prayed for Sarkar and tweeted that it's hard to digest the news of his demise. He also offered his deepest condolences and prayed for the deceased's family as well.

Bachchan also called it terrible news to wake up to and paid his respect to the filmmaker. He also thanked him for loving him as well as making him a small part of his life.

Famous writer-actor Swanand Kirkire penned a long note and also shared about his loving relationship with Sarkar. The tweet reads, "Film maker and dearest friend Pradeep Sarkar the mad man left us this morning . Rest in peace Dada your passion for the art of cinema will stay in your works ! Duniya bhar ki mitti ikatthi karte the ab jannat ki mitti dibiya mein bharna .Thank you for loving me and my words (Sic)."

Television's famous personalities also paid tribute to the filmmaker.

Mahabharat fame Sourabh Raaj Jain wrote, "Piya basanti re kahey sataye,that music video had such simplicity yet was visually so beautiful, and just like that so many of his movies he directed,he wrote,one of the directors I always wished I could work under…now that wish will never fulfill….#pradeepsarkar Om Shanti (sic)."

Last year, Pradeep Sarkar directed his last outing called Duranga, a web series starring Gulshan Devaiah and Drashti Dhami on ZEE5.
