“I cannot imagine making Rocket Boys for theatrical audiences ever, but got a chance to make it for OTT,” Siddharth Roy Kapur told Komal Nahta. The producer feels that the series required a longer format and a theatrical film would not serve justice to the story of the two passionate Indian scientists.
When asked why not for theatres, Siddharth said that casting for the movie would have been very difficult because it’s not an action film. Pointing out how most biopics are patriotic and thus, action-based, which is not the case with Rocket Boys.
The producer could not see Rocket Boys in the form of a limited format that films provide. He was certain that it should have been a web series for it to work. “You have time to go through the eras and live the characters’ journey with them when it comes to a web series,” Siddharth explained.
