Actor Madhavan, who is ready to make his directorial debut with the film Rocketry–The Nambi Effect, revealed how he had to modify the whole storyline of the film after speaking with former ISRO scientist Nambi Narayanan.

A biographical drama based on the life of Nambi Narayanan, who was falsely accused of espionage, had its world premiere at the Cannes Film Festival 2022. The screening of the film was greeted with thunderous applause as it received a standing ovation from the full house for 10 minutes.

Bankrolled under the banners of Tricolour Films and Varghese Moolan Pictures, Rocketry–The Nambi Effect has been shot in three languages, Hindi, Tamil and English.

Madhavan, who underwent a rigorous physical transformation for his role, will play Nambi Narayanan from the ages of 27 to 70. Rocketry–The Nambi Effect which was shot in more than six countries was slated to release last year, but got postponed due to COVID-19.

In an interview with Film Companion, Madhavan explained how he had to modify the whole screenplay after speaking with the scientist on whose tale the film is based. A few days ago, the actor also posted a lengthy video describing his work for the film.

"You could see the pain in this man's eyes and the violence we'd perpetrated on him. When you look at all the media and news about India, you wonder how it is even surviving and holding together. But then you understand that deep down, these pillars, these individuals of integrity, are the cause."

Speaking about Nambi Narayanan's association with the project, Madhavan said the scientist was not on set. "He was just there to help us with the scientific aspects, to make sure we got the rocketry aspects right. Until I spoke with Nambi Narayanan, I wasn't aware that he had worked with the late Dr APJ Abdul Kalam."

Simran will play the female lead, and it marks a reunion for her with Madhavan on-screen after 15 years. Rocketry–The Nambi Effect also features several Hollywood actors.
