Root: Bollywood actor Aparshakti Khurana’s first look from Tamil debut film out

Bollywood actor Aparshakti Khurana, best known for his performance in Stree films, is marking his Tamil debut with the upcoming film Root - Running out of Time. The first look of Aparshakti Khurana from Root, also starring actor Gautham Ram Karthik, has been unveiled on January 26.

What is Aparshakti Khurana’s role in Tamil film Root

Root is an upcoming Tamil film, helmed by debutant Sooriyaprathap S. Noted Tamil filmmaker AR Murugadoss, who directed Salman Khan's Sikandar unveiled the second poster from the film, featuring Aparshakti Khurana. The Stree actor wore traditional attire, along with spectacles. He stands with a serious attitude in the picture, which has the backdrop of an erstwhile Madras with its sepia tone and hand-pulled carts.

Gautham Ram Karthik stars in the film, touted to be a sci-fi thriller. The first-look poster of the film was released earlier by none other than superstar Rajinikanth that featured Gautham. The first-look poster, however, featured an hourglass in the background, but that seemed to be filled with paper notes and newspaper clippings on the wall. That poster appeared to be set in the present day, though Guatham was seen with handcuffs in one arm and a revolver lying on the table. It remains to be seen whether the film unfolds over two timelines. More details of the plot are not known.

Sooriyaprathap, who was an associate director on Rajinikanth-starrer Kochadaiiyaan, has also penned the script. Bhavya Trikha will play the female lead in the film, along with Y Gee Mahendran, RJ Anandhi and Pavni Reddy.

The makers have wrapped up the shooting, and the film is currently in post-production. But they are yet to announce a release date.

On the other hand, Aparshakti Khurana is popular for his Bittu role in Stree and Stree 2 from the Maddock Horror Comedy Universe. His real-life brother Ayushmann Khurrana played the lead role in Maddock’s latest film, Thamma, also starring Rashmika Mandanna.
