South Indian legendary filmmaker SS Rajamouli’s action bromance, featuring Ram Charan and Jr NTR, has been a massive hit both in India as well as internationally. In fact, Ram Charan and Jr NTR's RRR was so appreciated by the local as well as global moviegoers that the film went on to amass a whjopping 1200 crore at the box office.

RRR, which also stars Alia Bhatt and Ajay Devgn in cameo roles, was fecently in the news when stories of the film being India's official entry for Oscars 2023 started doing the rounds. However, that did not happen but RRR got released in Japan just recently. It was such a massive event that RRR stars Ram Charan, JR NTR and, SS Rajamouli flew down to promote the film in Japan.

RRR released in Japanese theaters on October 21 and although it had received a stunning response on Day 1, with news of people being moved to tears starting to float around, but its growth at the Japanese box office has been stagnant ever since.

RRR collected 1 crore gross on opening day and even surpassed the records of films such as Saaho, Bahubali 2 and Dangal, among others. Although the current flow of income is still considered good by some, as reported by Track Tollywood, it has not been able to match the hype the film had generated in Japan.

However, the film has been making steady money during the weekend (that is on Saturday and Sunday). The overall collection this past weekend was 3.7 crore gross, according to the same aforementioned report.

SS Rajmouli’s epic period drama is set in the early 20th century and tells the tale of two revolutionaries in British India. The film features NTR Jr and Ram Charan in lead roles, while Bollywood stars Alia Bhatt and Ajay Devgn play other important roles. The film also stars former Bond girl Alison Doody and veteran Irish actor Ray Stevenson essaying supporting characters. The script has been penned by SS Rajmouli and K. V. Vijayendra Prasad, with M.M. Keeravani in charge of sound design and cinematography by KK Senthil Kumar.
